ONCE YOU HAVE PASSED YOUR CONTENT EXAM, Please make sure to include ALL of the items listed on the application, i.e., all transcripts, picture i.d., etc.  Once your application packet has been received and evaluated, you will be informed of your admission status.  Please allow 5 business days.

 

NOTICE:    Please do not email, scan, or fax your application since we need to receive UNOPENED OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS in order to consider your application as complete!

C OMMIT

If you meet the program’s entry requirements, and complete program pre-requisites, you will be eligible to enroll and attend our Pre-Service Training Academy via our Virtual Classroom.  Congratulations, you are now a Teacher-Candidate!  No need to quit your current job!  The training academy sessiona are held Monday — Thursday evenings from 7 - 10 pm.  Teacher candidates must also complete 45 Field Observation Hours during this time. 

 

Pre-service topics will include, but are not limited to:  Human Development Theory; Age Level Characteristics; Learning Styles; Technology in the Classroom;   Educational Measurement and Student Assessment; Effective Communication; Bilingual/ESL Methodology; Effective Teaching Strategies and Instructional Practices; Dyslexia; Effective Classroom Management; The Teacher, the Law, and the Code of Ethics; Multiculturalism and the Diverse Learner; Multiple Intelligences and GT Students; Special Education and Inclusion; Lesson Planning; Teacher Appraisal; Special Populations and At-Risk Students; Dyslexia/Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum; and  Addressing Students’ Needs and Motivating Students.

Apply to as many SCHOOL DISTRICTS in TEXAS as you want!  Once you have obtained a teaching position, you will be assigned a mentor and a supervisor to support you during your internship year.  It is during this time that you will attend additional trainings and activities to ensure that you can accumulate the 300 minimum training hours required by the the Texas Education Agency before the end of your internship year.
